I sit and I wrestle because I can’t find God. Not in the way I wanted to. I wanted to find Him in the healings, preaching, praying, and saving. I wanted to see Him move in "mighty" ways.

I have found lately that God is moving in mighty ways. They come in the form of moments.

Moments of sitting in awe of His creation as I ride past rice fields and mountain tops in the DR.

Moments of needing strength to persevere through 8 hours of pouring concrete in Haiti.

Moments of realizing that I am still doing Kingdom work while plastering wall after wall in Romania.

Moments of drinking tea and coffee, watching movies, laughing, and simply being with friends in Moldova.

Moments of meeting with Jesus under a tree in Mozambique.

Moments of getting to use my gift of teaching for God's glory in Swaziland.

and most recently….

Moments of pulling weeds out of a garden.

Moments of seeing children eat lunch everyday and wonder if it will be their only meal that day.

Moments of holding my sweet Masalinda while we laugh, play, and cuddle together.

Elijah had a similar experience. He expected to find God in the "mighty" ways, but God showed up in a different way:

"And he said, 'Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.' And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper." 1 Kings 19:11-12

The Lord had a strong wind, an earthquake, and a fire pass by before He showed up in the form of a low whisper. Imagine if Elijah had missed that sweet moment with the Lord.

Where do you find God? God does move in the "big" ways of healings, and preaching, and praying, and saving, but He also moves in the smallest of moments.

Look for those moments…you won't regret it.
