Before I applied and was accepted onto the race I was reading every blog I could. I read blogs from people I knew on the race. I read her friend’s blogs. I even read blogs from I had never met before. So I am reading and one blog stuck out in particular, it was a blog about how Greek Life and the World Race are pretty similar. So here comes my take on this idea.
She was right.
Let me go back to give you a little history. I joined the beautiful Alpha Sigma Alpha sisterhood my freshman year of college. When I did this I knew not a soul in the sorority but suddenly I had all these sisters. Crazy but the same thing will happen when I go to training camp in October, I wont know anyone but these will be my brothers and sisters. My new sisters also told me that the bond isn’t for 4 years this is for life. World Race brothers and sisters aren’t for 11 months but for life. Pretty awesome right?!?!? I am going to have 2 huge groups of people in my life who have already decided to share a lifelong bond with me. NOT TOO SHABBY.
After a little while in my sorority I had to learn our creed and let me tell you I am pretty sure the same creed could be used for the World Race.
To fill my days with satisfying activity: The World Race is just that. Every single day I will be doing something different. Whether it is working in an orphanage with little children or working with women who have been trafficked, every single day with be filled with satisfying activity.
To find dominate beauty in art, literature, nature and friendship: If you didn’t already know, I think Gods a pretty cool dude. Who else would produce such a beautiful world? I mean come on… sunsets over the water or mountains in the distance or my favorite, an old dirt road (weird I know). God gives me beauty to admire and I cannot wait to travel the Americas on the World Race to see even more beauty.
To know the peace and serenity of a divine faith: Hello, I get to be the hands and feet of Jesus for 11 months in the Kingdom. I will have to rely on faith in my Lord to survive this adventure. For the next 11 months, it won’t be about me… its about the Kingdom.
To love life and joyously live each day to its ultimate good: I mean I get to travel the world, spread the word of God and be the hands and feet of Jesus. I get to hang out with my hero’s and strangers that will soon become my best friends. The life I will soon embark on will be the greatest life of them all.
Everyone I talk to laughs when I say I have a business degree but I am going to be a missionary and while no it’s not the most conventional route, it is the right route. Roanoke College gave me more than just that diploma it gave me sisterhood. Alpha Sigma Alpha was by far the best decision I made at Roanoke College and The World Race is the best decision I made after college. Thank you to all my sorority sisters who accepted me with open arms and January Route 1 I cannot wait to spend the not only the next year together but a lifetime of a bond.
Thank you all for supporting me. While 11% is awesome I have a long way to go. Please consider partnering with me on this journey. You can pray for me, pray for the people I will serve, read all my blogs, share my blogs and or donate so I can be the hands and feet of Jesus. The SUPPORT ME button at the top of the page is the easiest way for you to donate to me.
Thank you all in advance. Love always!!
Mollie
