The wind blows through the trees. You can smell whats coming next. Rain. Long awaited rain. Moments later big, wet drops fall from the sky. They hit my nose, head, and the dusty ground my feet stand on. Cries. Shouts. Laughter fills the night sky. It is not supposed to rain here in Nicaragua for another month, yet last night it down poured.
Scandalous. Unnecessary. Un required . A gift we didn’t deserve, yet a gift freely given.

Recently, I’ve become aware of
all the scandalous decisions God makes.

My favorite example is all those years ago when The Creator had a decision to make. One that is categorized as scandalous. One that changed the course of human existence. The Great I Am. The King of Kings. The God of The Process. The Perfect One had to decide what to do with His children. His creations that had fallen into sin and away from Him.

He could punish them. Wipe them from the face of the earth. He could start over with just a few spoken words. Yet I image He looked down and cried. He hand crafted each and every one of the people who had fallen away from Him. He knew the freckles on noses and the sound of each ones laughter. He knew by heart the finger prints of each child. He loved them too deeply to wipe away the masterpieces he had so carefully hand crafted.
So Instead, The Father made a decision.

He chose to send a part of Himself to experience the punishment.

He sent the The Perfect One to carry the sins of the imperfect. The King of Kings unleashed all His anger and wrath upon Himself. Just so I wouldn’t have to experience it.

When I think about the weight of those few sentences I am left speechless and in tears. Baffled, truly. It was a scandalous decision. Unnecessary. Un required. A gift we didn’t deserve, yet a gift freely given. One I will never truly understand.

So as the wind blows through the trees, you know what’s coming. You can feel it in your bones. Freedom. Grace.
Long awaited. Chains fall and hit the dusty ground my feet stand on.
Cries. Shouts. Laughter fill the sky because The Veil has been torn.

Scandalous.
