“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16
Dear friends and family,
I’m sooo excited to share with you this amazing opportunity that God has placed in front of me to be able to serve people in so many different ways in several different countries. The Mission organization that I’m going through is (AIM) Adventures In Missions and the program that I’m going under is The World Race where I will fit my life in 1 backpack to travel to 11 different countries for 11 month’s. I will be going to Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Nepal, India, Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, Dominican Republic, Haiti and Puerto Rico. I will be leaving for my mission trip 9/1/2013 and returning 7/30/2014. Through my travels we will be spreading the love of God and His desire to have us whole heartedly, teach English and math to children in school, go to orphanages and show children love, help with construction, serve food to the poor and hungry, build relationships with people we encounter, reach out to women and children who are being trafficked for sex and letting the women know that they are not worthless and should be treated like the jewels they are.
It makes me energized to see the different ways that God will be using me and my teammates in his plan for ministry. I’m ready to meet the people in the many different areas that we will be going to and get to know them on a personal level and hear their stories and try to help them in any way that I can. My heart is especially drawn to the women, children and men who are slaves to human trafficking for prostitution. Most of the victims are tricked into this snare by being threatened for their lives and their families’ lives, or they are told that they have to pay off a debt but the men, women, and children can never pay off the debt and are trapped in this hopeless situation indefinitely.
Those people are victims and need to know that they are more than pieces of meat for people to use and abuse. They need to hear that they are beautiful and God has an undying love for them! In order for this all to happen I will need lots and lots of prayer which is my number one priority, prayer is such a powerful tool. Please keep my team, the people that we interact with and me in your prayer’s, that we stay safe through this journey and that God would just shine a light on our path and speak words that will move nations.
For this to happen I will need to raise $15,500 which will cover my traveling expenses and all my basic necessities for 11 months. I will have a second page that will have more information if you would like to financially support me for this mission trip, but more importantly I cannot stress enough the impact that your prayers will make. Letters say a lot but I wish I could just open up my chest and show you my heart so you could see the burning passion and excitement I have for this mission trip and yearning to experience the ways that God is going to use me to love and help others. Thank you all for prayer and support. I will have a blog that you can follow my travels on missynethaway.theworldrace.org This is not just my mission trip this is yours as well.
Thank You and God Bless,
Missy Nethaway
