Hello World!

I would like to share with you all what I believe the Lord was speaking to me about while I was having some Quiet Time with the him the other day. The topics are: Worship & Stars.

Worship

Worship is a lifestyle.

Worship is music, singing, playing instruments, breathing, dancing, cooking, cleaning, giving praise…really it is anything that you do that brings God glory.

Worship doesn’t have to be fancy or pretty (Psalm 100:1).

Worship isn’t something that only a few people are great at.

Worship is something that everyone can and should do. When we function as we were created we bring glory to the Lord.

Check out a few passages of Scripture that mention worship:
Psalm 51:, 95: & 96:
Romans 12:1-2
Dueteronomy 4:24

“Acceptable worship includes showing reverence and awe of God’s holiness. It also includes respecting God as a king and a judge to whom alone worship is due.” (ESV: Global Study Bible, Bible Note)

Stars – the kind you see in the night sky.

Sometimes we can only see a few because of all the lights around us. In order to see a clearer picture, we have to get away from the city lights. Go to the middle of nowhere and you will be in the best place to see all the stars. There you will find no competing lights. Your eyes will be able to see the beautiful masterpiece the Lord has created.
I was trying to figure out how I could relate this to life, and here is what I came up with:

In life, all the other “lights” are distractions. We allow other things to distract us from what God has for us because we allow them to consume our lives. In order to get what God has for you, you need to remove the distractions. You need to spend DAILY QUIET TIME with the Lord. You have to quiet yourself, your soul, your mind, and your body before the Lord.

Oftentimes, God speaks in a still small voice. If you are always on the go and/or never rest, then it is much harder, if not impossible, to hear from the Lord.
So friends, I give you a challenge. I would like to hear from you should you accept it.

Challenge: Find an hour this week and spend it completely alone in the presence of God. Turn off your phone. Turn off the TV/Music/Netflix. Turn off anything that could be a distraction. Also, you should be alone when you are doing this. Bring with you a Bible and a Journal & writing utensil. If music helps you focus, listen only to music that will draw you closer to the Lord, but I would highly encourage you to be in complete silence. During this time: pray and read the Bible. Write down the things that come to mind. Do whatever you hear the Lord asking you.

In other news, I am part of a new team: Tortuga Laud. At the beginning of the month, my team mates were: Kathryn Krause, Brenna Lucero, Carlie Smith, and Sara Torres (former teammate and current leader). As of 7/7/15, Carlie Smith made the decision to return home in the states. Allison Hencke (squad leader) has been and will be with us for a few more days.

In conclusion, I’d love to hear from you about any thoughts you have about worship and/or stars. Also, if you decide to accept the challenge, I would love to hear how it goes. Expect great things!

Keep Lookin’ Up,
Misha
