At camp during the summer we are encouraged to participate in a Family Group. This is a weekly meeting where your “family” comes together and meets. Some groups study a book of the Bible, some study a particular topic in the bible, or some even study a book that pertains to Christian living. I am in the Millers’ Family Group, which is composed of most of the Supervisory and Intern Crew, the Miller adults and some of their teenage children.

I thought I would share a little bit of what Francis Chan says in the Preface and Chapter 1 of his book “Crazy Love,” as this is the book that we have chosen to read together as a family this summer.

This is from the end of the Preface: “Come with me on this journey. I don’t promise it will be painless. Change, as we all know, is uncomfortable. It’s up to you to respond to what you read. But you will have a choice: to adjust how you live daily or to stay the same.”

Chapter 1 nuggets:
God is holy.
Exodus 3:14

God is eternal. Psalm 102: 12, 27

God is all-knowing. Psalm 139; Hebrews 4:13

God is all-powerful. Colossians 1:16; Psalm 115:3; Daniel 4:35

God is fair and just. Proverbs 8:13

Also, you should check out his two videos on the website www.crazylovebook.com. The videos are called: “Awe Factor” and “Just Stop and Think.” I guarantee you that they are worth your time, approximately 20 minutes total.

Most of all though, I hope that you know and realize that God loves you and He just wants you to bask in His presence and share His love with others.

If you have read this book then I would love to talk with you sometime about it once I finish. If you haven’t read it, I hope you at least consider reading it. I have heard this book will make you want to change though, so if you aren’t ready to deal with yourself and/or allow God to change you, then maybe you shouldn’t read it. 🙂

Have a great week!
Keep Lookin’ Up!
