If you’ve never lived in a community, then you are missing out! There are definitely times when you need to get away for a bit but for the most part it is great!
I am excited to be at Cedar Campus again living in community. Currently I am housed with 4 other ladies but have my own room. Having my own room is good for many reasons, mainly because I am an introvert and sometimes I just need my own space and alone time. During the past few weeks we have had to make our own dinners and so we have taken turns making dinner for everyone. It is just fun seeing what others create. Also, today after lunch some of us cleaned up the dishes together. I have found that doing chores together is much more enjoyable than doing them alone. I am looking forward to meeting the other crew that will be working up here this summer as well and living in community with some of them.
While on the World Race we also get to live in community. Currently there are at least 52 people on September Route 5, which means we will be travelling to the same countries together. We will be broken down into smaller squad teams and will work and live primarily with those individuals. The Race is just over 4 months away, yay! I am super excited to meet my route buddies and do life together!
Carrying on the format of the blog from last week, here is a song that corresponds with the theme of this blog. I have chosen “Lean On Me” by Bill Withers. The lyrics are below:
“Lean On Me”
Sometimes in our lives
We all have pain, we all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there’s always tomorrow
Lean on me when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need somebody to lean on
Please, swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won’t let show
You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on
Lean on me when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need somebody to lean on
You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on
If there is a load
You have to bear that you can’t carry
I’m right up the road, I’ll share your load
If you just call me
Call me (If you need a friend)
Call me (Call me uh-huh)
Call me (When you need a friend)
Call me (If you ever need a friend)
Call me (Call me) 4X
Call me (If you need a friend)
Call me (Call me) 4X
Call me
Living in community allows for “leaning on one another”. The people you live with become like another family if you allow them to. So, if you ever get the chance to live in community I highly encourage it!
Thanks for reading! What experiences have you had living in community? Leave a comment if you’d like.
Keep Lookin’ Up,
