We are the missionaries who don’t do anything
We just stay home and paint the house
and if you ask us if we do anything
We’ll just tell you We don’t do anything
Well I’ve never plucked a rooster
And I’m not too good at ping ball
And I’ve never thrown my mashed potatoes
Up against the wall
And I’ve never kissed a chipmunk
And I’ve never gotten head lice
And I’ve never been to Boston in the fall
It doesn’t seem like we’re doing much “ministry” this month. All we’ve been doing is cutting fire wood, cooking meals, yard work and other odd jobs around the house.
I see the other teams on the squad doing World Race mission work. You know things like holding babies, playing with orphans and loving the gypsies. And then I look at what we’re doing and think is this ministry?
And Jesus tells me yes it is.
we may not be out in the town doing typical mission work but we’re serving our hosts and making it easier for them to do their work. We’re preparing a place for missionaries to stay and rest. We’re in the beginning stages but everything has to start some where.
So not all ministries look the same. Not all are what you expect it to be. Some / most of the work you do will be the everyday things that you do at home, but its still ministry. You’re still showing Jesus and serving others.
