This is part one of my fundraising campaign titled Meals and Miles
I’ve eaten a lot of meals in my lifetime. Everything from the Mexican spaghetti of my youth to my current favorite recipe to make for friends, Chicken Tikka Masala. I’ve eaten peanut butter and honey sandwiches on the side of the road and a multiple course meal in Paris. There are days that I have survived completely on cookies and pasta because of icy weather. Other days, well-balanced meals have given me the energy I needed to take on the day.
This meal was prepared for our group in Zimbabwe, I’m in the back center.

Food is a necessity for life and, believe it or not, I will be eating on the World Race. In fact, I will be eating just over 1,000 meals over the course of 11 months. Let’s pretend for a moment that the full price of my trip, $16,273, is just to feed me for a year. That makes it about $16 a meal. Yes, it’s a little on the pricey side, but for those of us who make eating out an event including appetizers and dessert with a good tip, $16 is actually a pretty good deal!
I know it’s not good manners to invite yourself over to dinner, but that’s what I’m going to do. I would encourage you to “invite” me to your home for a good meal, by contributing $16 to my fundraising effort. Even more, I would enjoy having a standing invitation to join your family once a week. If 20 of you readers gave $16 a week for the next year, my trip would be nearly funded. Follow the directions under the Support Me! tab to give.
Have some fun with it! Print out a picture of me and tape it to an empty chair. Tell me what meal you’re inviting me to and I can try to eat the same thing at the same time. Take a picture of the meal and send it to me. Start your own blog detailing the meals we eat together. I am not going on this trip alone and I want you to feel a part of my journey, because you are. I want to eat with you and enjoy your company. Invite me over for dinner!
