As I said in my last blog, There are five of us guys that are going to take a new step of faith together for the next three and a half months. Our plan is to spend this time in India and Nepal. Where will we live? What will we do? We are not really sure yet. We have a contact in northern India that we have agreed to meet with initially. So we will probably head up there for at least a couple weeks, and then from there it is wherever God decides to take us.
Faith is an interesting thing. It requires action. The bible says that faith without works is dead. When Jesus called the disciples to follow him, It had to of taken a tremendous amount of faith. Who of us would have left our boats and nets on the sea shore to be stolen or ruined by the weather. Who of us would have left our lucrative job as a tax collector and followed in the footsteps of Jesus. It is exactly the risk of the unknown that makes faith what it is. We can say that we believe that God will provide for us, but without stepping into that unknown our words are empty. This action is not to be confused with tempting God. Throwing yourself off a cliff just so that God has to save you is not what I’m talking about. I believe that anyone who seeks God in their life will be called out of the comfort of where they are at. And it’s going to require you to step into circumstances that you can’t control. But when you are faithful in taking these steps, God is faithful in providing for your needs.
This is the heart of what’s behind this trip. I’m obsessed with the idea of living a life of complete trust in God. I can’t even imagine what that would look like. And whether I actually get there or not, doesn’t really matter I guess. What matters is that God keeps on bringing things into my life that require more stretching of my faith. As long as I keep taking these steps, God will be glorified by my journey……… MT
