Dear Reader,
If you don’t already know me, I am a city girl. I don’t like bugs, snakes or any type of creepy crawlers! I had never slept in a tent until training camp. I knew training camp was going to be rough but it was definitely an adventure.I’ve been blessed with an extroverted personality and love meeting new friends. Meeting my squad mates (The Yellow Squad) was such a heart warming experience and really just an encouragement that I will never be alone in the journey of spreading God’s word. From the time we all arrived, some of my squad members were either becoming ill or injured…..including myself. On day one, we were informed that training camp was going to be a battle and is going to push us to our limits and boy did it!!The food wasn’t always the best and sharing with 7 other people who were just as hungry as I was, was definitely not something I was used to. From sleeping in tents (with a TON of bugs) and sleeping in the woods under tarps (with even more bugs), it was a battle but a blessing in disguise.
It was such an awesome thing seeing all of us together, only knowing each other for 10 days, become united, become a whole, become one! We would make sure every person was satisfied. Surrounding myself with these Godly men and women, I have learned will make my spiritual journey 10X the experience. Through all the injuries and sicknesses and the constant heat waves, it never stopped any of us from loving each other and supporting each other.
Training camp not only made me physically and mentally prepared but also Spiritually. It has also given me spiritual endurance to keep wanting to be a disciple of Christ who makes disciples. My prayer for myself, is to never run out of that endurance, and that my heart continues to beat for God and not the world.
I can’t wait to see what God has this Journey show me and my team members.
I also want to thank all the leaders who pushed me and loved me. Yall made training camp and experience that will never be forgotten. Yall are truly amazing!
Sincerely, Mikkala Jackson
