As New Years approached, I began to try and think of a clever new years goal unlike every other years of trying to drink less soda, not eat so much fast food, maybe read a couple books…but like every new years goal, it usually is lost and forgotten about. This year though I knew I wanted it to be different and really wanted to have an unforgettable year. To do so I believe there needs to be change and so with a new year, there was a lot of new change as well.
We ventured from Central America to Asia…taking only 6 travel days :/
First, to leave Nicaragua we through most of our stuff on a horse and buggy, then hiked down a sandy beach to where we caught a dinky boat to where we caught a bus that took us to the airport. We then got stuck on the plane for 4 hours for mechanical delays, then finally flew out on a 3-4 hour ride to Atlanta where we got in about 10-11pm and then had to go back to the airport at 4am to catch a 4ish hour plane ride to LA where we then had a 12 hour layover. Then we left around 10ish pm and took a 13 hour plane ride to Seoul, South Korea where we had another 12 hour layover. Then left Seoul at around 5pm and arrived in Bangkok, Thailand around 11ishpm and somewhere in between there we entirely skipped Friday due to the time change and flying. Then after 1 night spent in Bangkok we took an overnight 12 hour bus ride to Chang-Rai and now head out tomorrow morning to Laos on just a 3 hour bus ride to rent a truck and drive around to villages and hike where we can’t drive. So all in all, lots of travel…but we are almost to our destination!
Second change is I have a new team now! At the end of Central America, they decided to mix up all of the teams as they brought up new squad leaders. So now I have 6 wonderful new teammates who I am going to be able to live life with and be side by side on this new adventure in Asia.

From Left to Right- Nate, Rachel, Tom Cruise ;), Dave, Me
Courtney, Renee, and Taralah
Third change is obviously the continent and the language. When I thought I was finally getting Spanish down, we head out and now are surrounded by people speaking Thai…and I am clueless. Although not knowing the language what so ever, it makes me really excited to be part of a new culture that I have never experienced before and ready for God to move in big ways I would have never imagined!
In order for great things to happen, sometimes you need to have change and a lot of that is happening. So I am ready and yearning for amazing things this New Year, 2012!
