Dear family and friends,
A couple of years ago the Lord told me that I would come to a fork in the road of life and I would have to choose between a career like job or leaving everything behind and going into the mission field. After two years of praying and asking for the opportunity to minister to the world that time in my life has come.
For the past five years I have been the general manager of a local coffee shop and I have recently heard about a program called the World Race. This is no reality TV show. It’s a mission trip around the world, eleven countries in eleven months. I will be traveling with a group of about thirty people and for one or two days at the beginning of each month we will break up into our teams of five to six people and race against each other over land to the next destination. We will be traveling cheaply and staying in tents or wherever people invite us to stay.
The idea is to take a year of your life and live like Jesus lived while traveling around the world. It’s the simple life of servant hood, abandoning everything before we go so we will have to entirely rely on God to provide for us. We will be working with partner ministries and taking care of the poor. That could include a number of things; working in orphanages, responding to natural disasters, planting local churches that reach out in love to the community.
My desire is to have the opportunity to minister to and live with the poorest of poor and learn how to share with them salvation through Jesus and to grow in my relationship with the Lord and learn to trust Him. In order to minister to the poor during our pilgrimage around the world I will be visiting countries and cities with less than desirable, sometimes dangerous, living conditions. In order to insure our safety I will need you most faithful friends and family to pray for me. We will need prayer for safe travel, health, and ministry opportunities. The cost of this amazing opportunity is $13,800 or about $1,255 per month. My team is starting to raise funds now and we will start our race around the world on January 1st 2008. This is the first part of learning to trust the Lord. We will be doing fund raisers like car washes and bake sales to try to raise enough money in the next few months.
Some of you may be in the position to financially contribute to my support. The Lord knows I can use all the help I can get. I would ask you to please pray about what you might be able to help me with financially.
