Time to catch up on my blogs!

Month six in Rwanda is now officially over.

I didn't know what to expect. The only thing I really knew about Rwanda was that they had a horrible genocide in the 90’s, but I really didn’t even know much about it.I expected to see a 3rd world country still suffering the effects of the genocide. To my suprise, I was wayyy off.

When we arrived in Kigali, Rwanda my initial response was “Who knew that Rwanda is so green, CLEAN, mountainous, and absolutely beautiful?

When I say clean- I mean you can’t find one dirty wrapper or piece of plastic. They even make their dirt paths look immaculate.

I was staying in a cute lil cement house in Kabeza that was 45 minutes outside of the city of Kigali. And the city was another surprise. It was so developed. I had found out that everything has been built in the last 17 years.

Talk about redemption.

On April 6, 1994-The president was shot. That was the start of the 100 days of killing.  Two main ethnic tribes- the Tutsi (minority) and Hutu’s were fighting against each other, killing almost one million innocent people.

17 years later Rwanda is now becoming a competitive country that is beautiful and flourishing.

This month the common theme was TRUE redemption. I started reading Redeeming Love (another MUST read) and the Lord reminded me of His never ending, always pursing, faithful love. Even when I have turned my back on Him so many times, or when I think I’m in the biggest mess of my life- He never gives up on me and somehow purifies me whiter than snow. Just when I think my life is beyond repair- he restores me more than I could have ever imagined. How? I don’t know.

Just like Rwanda. Almost beyond repair, yet the Lord in is His love and compassion is breathing life into this country and rebuilding it beyond their imagination.

Visiting the genocide museum was so heavy and sad, yet again a reminder of God’s faithfulness and redemption.

We went with Pastor Moses who survived the genocide and
healed of aids. He now has 4 beautiful girls!
