day 1:
6:30am- last breakfast in america with my family.
my sister is the best lil cook i know.
i already miss our coffee times in the morning.
9:30 am: dropped off at the Charlotte airport by my family and had a fun suprise by a couple friends- was doing pretty good.
10am:yep.it was over. crying meltdown. believe it or not it was a sad yet joyful cry. a dear friend prayed over me a couple weeks ago and prayed that in everygood bye i would see the Lord. these last few weeks have been such a blessing. God has given me amazing family and friends and it is such a gift- i feel like the luckiest girl. they have made my last month so special.
i miss you all already but excited for what the Lord has in store for all of us. i had a fear of saying goodbye, but can honestly say He exchanged my fears into excitement for what's ahead. (not to say i still have my teary eyed moments and expect to get a lil homesick)
11am: left charlottfe to JFK to meet our squad leaders, my fellow team leaders, financial and logistic pros.
1pm-6pm first layover and first realization that i may have overpacked just a smidge.
6:30pm- Off to POLAND! (my momma's hometown- so it was pretty cool i got to see a quick glimpse of it.)
midnight: dinner/breakfast? not really sure but… WELCOME to the WORLD RACE… carbs, carbs, and more carbs. 🙂
meet garrett (one of our coolest squad leader) and jenny (fellow racer) ..probably the best plane ride..maybe not so much for those arounod us.. needed those good laughs. thank u.
8 hours later we landed in Poland (and mom this is for you- i had a prince a polo!! in POLAND)
Finally off to Bucharest, Romania. (lost track of time at this point) didn't know if it was morning or night- but my body was not happy with me.
We then hopped on a bus ride to the sub way- finished with a final mile sweaty hike to our hostel. and yep-officially OVER PACKED. Will be shedding at least 10 pounds off my pack.
outside my hostel window. can't believe i'm in ROMANIA. still feels surreal.
we had leadership training and then reunited the next day with my team. i was soo glad when they finally arrived! i love them so much already. crazy how that can happen is such a short amount of time.
thank you Lord for your traveling mercies!
we're currently at "launch" which is training and team bonding. we will be leaving romania in a few days and my team of 6 beautiful women will be joining 2 other teams and we will be traveling 12 hours by train to MOLDOVA! the poorest country in Europe and we will be serving in the poorest city. please start praying for our time in Moldova!
and i'm off to bed..
good night!
