Sex Slavery

Proverbs 31:8-9 “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves;ensure justice for those who are perishing.Yes,speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.”

 

 

 
     When i was on my Thailand mission trip summer of 2007, we stayed in cabins surrounded by the jungles of Chiang Mai for 10 days & then stayed in Bangkok for one week. While in Bangkok, one of our hotels was near a brothel. For those of you who dont know what a brothel is, it’s a dirty, disgusting, horrible, hellish place where women & young girls (as young as 6yrs old) are prostituted & sold into slavery, for whoever wants to buy them for the hour, day, week, etc. So everyday i walked in & out of our hotel, i would walk past a long line of young, scared girls in the morning, waiting to be sold.None of them spoke english so it was frustrating for me. I wanted with all my heart to share with them how much they are WORTH in God’s eyes. My eyes would water up everytime as i gazed into their frightened, hurt eyes. One day i saw more than 30 young girls lined up outside. None of them were over the age of 14. It disgusted me & angered me. These precious young girls being sold to men off the street, the only life they know of. Sexually abused, beaten, many killed/abducted. Nearly 2 million are stuck in sex slavery 🙁

     Everytime i walked past them i’d pray for them. I also cried out to God & said “LORD!! If there is ANY way i can come back to Thailand or other countries of East Asia & help RESCUE THESE PRECIOUS YOUNG CHILDREN OF YOURS, PLEASE make a way for me to return soon in the future!I want to do something to help them!!”

 

***i was reminded by  Liz Olson,a  World Racer, that i NEED to be praying for the hurt men who are involved in the sex slavery. Yes, the men who walk in and buy these women/children. As much as it angers me to see them purchase these women for sex, it tells me that they also are heart broken & NEED to know the love of Jesus. Jesus LOVES them just as much as He loves those women, & everyone else He created. Jesus teaches to love our enemies. Love those who persecute us.  He desires to have a personal relationship with each one of them. So please join me as i pray for the MEN & WOMEN whom my team & i will be serving, who are desperately lost, searching for REAL love in all the wrong places. Thank you Liz for that reminder, i need it***

Matthew 5:43-48

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
    

PRAYERS ANSWERED!!!! My World Race team will be spending 4 months in East Asia, one of those months we will be in Thailand, helping to rescue the men,women & children in sex slavery!! My heart breaks for this injustice. We will also be in the Philippines, Romania & Cambodia where this incredibly horrific slavery takes place. So please be praying for the World Race teams who are there already helping out, & for our team that will be there this fall through the winter!

     Another example of God answering my specific prayer in His perfect timing, & answering a desire of my heart also!!! Oh Lord i pray that MANY lives will be freed from sex slavery & that Your love, compassion, grace, mercy ,forgiveness, peace & joy will shower over these men, women & young girls <3 I can’t wait to be a part of changing lives in East Asia!!!

  FACTS:

*Human trafficking, sometimes called the “largest slave trade in history,” is overtaking drug smuggling as one of the world’s fastest growing illegal enterprises.

*Worldwide trafficking numbers: 250,000 come from Asia, 100,000 from the former Soviet Union, 175,000 from Central and Eastern Europe, 100,000 from Latin America and the Caribbean, and 50,000 from Africa. The majority of these victims are trafficked for commercial sexual exploitation. 80% are women and girls, and up to 50% are minors.

*2 million girls between ages 5-15 are introduced into the commercial sex market each year.

*10 million children worldwide are engaged in some facet of the sex industry. Each year at least one million children, mostly girls, become prostitutes.

*89% of prostitutes want to escape. 60 to 75% have been raped.

*In Thailand, 10-12 year old girls service men in the sex industry. They typically have sex with men 10-15 times daily and sometimes as many as 20-30.

*At least 200,000 women and children work in prostitution in Thailand. 1/3 of the women are under the age of 18, and girls as young as six years old work in prostitution
