How I was CALLED to the World Race!!
Prov. 31:8-9 “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves;ensure justice for those who are perishing.Yes,speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.”
Matthew 19:21 “Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
Before i even heard about World Race, i had been frustrated about where my life was going & felt like God was preparing me for something HUGE, just didn’t know WHAT or WHEN! I felt like every job i had i was mediocre at & i kept praying for God to lead me in a direction down a path where i could live out my PASSIONS on a day to day basis! I had been desiring to do a longterm mission trip for a few years now. I was praying about which organization i should apply to & where God wanted to send me. A few months ago I heard about the World Race Mission Trip with Adventures in Missions Organization through 2 friends, & as i supported them,prayed for them, heard about how amazing & unique this trip is & prayed about God’s plans for MY life,it GREW ON ME!God has been stirring up my heart the last few months to prepare my heart for this trip, even though i was unaware of it! It hit me like a brick…God was like”hey Michelle, i know youve been praying for your two friends who are going on WR in Jan, but im also calling YOU to go in July!” That’s the best way to describe how God called me to this incredible adventure!Everything about the trip was what i had been praying for the last year: challenge, excitement,adventure, serving & preaching gospel to people around the world,living a more simple lifestyle OUTSIDE MY COMFORT ZONE (living out of a backpack for 11 months is very SIMPLE haha), & being part of something HUGE that God is doing!!After experiencing my last 5 short term overseas missions (Namibia, England, Thailand, Uganda…each trip was about 2-3weeks long) over the last few years, I felt God was preparing me for something bigger, just had NO IDEA what or where!! I KNEW beyond a doubt that God was calling me on this trip! It was that same feeling/experience when God called me on my first mission trip to Namibia, Africa in 2006! God asked me “Michelle, are you willing to drop everything you know in your life, everything you are familiar with, to follow Me in FAITH to 11 different foreign countries for 11 months? Are you ready to pick up your cross & DENY yourself? Are you able to SURRENDER your future dreams/goals/desires to trust in Me & follow Me?” I answered “YES LORD!!! I AM WILLING & DESIRE TO FOLLOW YOU & SURRENDER MY WHOLE LIFE TO YOU, NO MATTER WHAT THE COST!!”
I know it’s a SACRIFICE. I will turn 31 in April 2011 in a foreign country, & also miss celebrating Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving,& other occassions/events in 2010/2011 with family & friends. At times it will be dangerous.There’s NO guarantee the team & i will come back safely.But i’m willing to lay down my life for the sake of the Gospel & serving Jesus! I counted the cost & I will obey His calling!I will be serving those He loves who are desperately in need, around the world!I’m so blessed that my parents & friends have been supportive & excited for me also.I am so THRILLED, beyond words, for this World Race trip! I know that God’s going to use me to reach out to others to share His love,compassion & truth! Lives will be saved & Eternally changed!I AM SO UNWORTHY TO BE A PART OF THIS. I AM NOTHING SPECIAL, NOTHING GREAT ABOUT ME. JUST THAT IM WILLING TO BE USED, AND GOD WORKS WITH HUMBLE HEARTS WHO DESIRE TO BE AVAILABLE TO BE USED TO BUILD HIS KINGDOM!!!!
So I am asking you to PLEASE pray for me as I follow God’s lead!!! Your FINANCIAL SUPPORT & PRAYER SUPPORT is NEEDED GREATLY & APPRECIATED!!!
