My favorite moments from this past
week…

Worship night with girls at center:

The
Lord reminded me of how wonderful God is and how much He has done for
me personally. I’m not who I once was. I”m becoming more who He
created me to be and I love it.

Fall Festival/Early Halloween party
with children at church:

In a paper crown and table runner I
borrowed from hotel I became a queen! My costume turned out to be a
hit for most the kids left having made their very own crown out of
paper at the craft booth. We had face painting, bible stories, games
like bowling, ring toss, pin the tail on the monkey and a water
balloon toss which of course led to a water fight. There was candy
and laughter and over all a good time. I have to say that it was very
hilarious to explain our traditions to a country where it is not
celebrated at all.

Dollar Surgery:

On our morning run my co-leader Kendall
tripped and cut her hand up pretty bad. She had several nasty cuts
with gravel and nasty street dirt and water in her cuts. This lead to
our translator performing small surgery on the church stage to cut
open wounds with Swiss army knife and clean out with iodine. No
worries…it is healing quickly and all the dirt was removed AND it
cost just a little over a dollar.

Teaching Huah how to brush his
teeth:

The most precious little boy who lives
near the center and seems to adopt our group most days. His baby
teeth are already rotted so we brought him a toothbrush and we
brushed our teeth together. He is usually hyper but sat really still
and concentrated on how to do it. His spit almost landed on my
teammate but it was the cutest thing I’ve seen.

Walking the Streets:

This idea lead us to walking the
streets to hand out toothbrushes and to help prevent illness related
to poor oral hygiene, open doors build relationships, and to find
needs we can meet. My group walked down a muddy path to a slum area.
We found an old train station which was really just a dirt floored
warehouse in which five or more families lived. They had been there
for five years. There gratitude for a toothbrush astounded me…and
it wasn’t the first time I’ve seen poverty like this or the
worst..and I honestly don’t want to become numb to it. We got to have
a few conversations and twirl around some adorable children. We are
making plans to go back. There are two older disabled men there with
no family. I’d love to play some cards with them. There is just
something about loving on the forgotten. We are also trying to
figure out how to best serve them. Food, toys, clothes…etc. Be
praying for answers and open doors.

Going on dates with monks:

A few women on my team made friends
with some monks. They should soon be back from their second date with
them soon! Well…maybe not a date but we like to joke since women
aren’t even suppose to touch the monks and these young monks keep
wanting to meet with these girls and talk about their faith with one
another. Please pray for these relationships and protection from
spiritual warfare.

We are heading to Siem Reap for a few
days to debrief. We are halfway done!!! It has gone by so fast. I
have many more awesome stories to tell about the amazing women I get
to lead and live with! God is so good!
