So this month I have been in El
Salvador in San Rafael Cedros. Its a quiet small town nestled in
some hills which makes for cool nights. Well…almost cool. We are
living with a pastor and his family here. They are more than generous
and despite the huge communication barrier this place is becoming
home for me. We have spent most our time going door to door talking
and praying with people in local communities. And this week we have
started preaching and giving testimonies on hillside revivals in the
evenings. I know the Lord is working! 🙂
And although this is our tenth month on
the field…there have been several funny mistake we missionaries
have made this month.
Missionary mistake #1:
Doing Tae Bo workout videos at night.
Now the pastors little girl Rebekah goes around the house and church
punching people. They do not seem amused.
Missionary mistake #2:
Assuming you understand what contact is
asking in Spanish. We somehow ended up with 24 sandwiches for the six
of us to eat one night. Upon sitting down to eat them all Justin
says – “This might be my fault”
Missionary mistake #3:
Leaving kitchen
door open at night. Cat got out and whole house woke up to cat
drowning in water supply basin. Cat survived…there is now hair in
my bath water.
Missionary mistake #4: Assuming that
random person driving car does not understand English and talking
about how he might be kidnapping us and if we had to kill one person
on the squad who would it be. Then finding out they do speak
English, He is treating you to dinner with his family, and you have
not even introduced yourself in the 20 minute car ride.
Oops!!!
