1. Upon signing the contract at launch, I gave up ANY and ALL personal rights for 11 months.
2. I learned to humbly serve Q squad through planning, buying, and preparing meals for 45 people for 3 weeks. When I serve I must have the right heart and ultimately be serving the Lord without expecting ANYTHING in return.
3. How to properly use a footprint (thing under a tent to keep the water out) to ensure that water does not get into my tent. This was after 3 times of having water of some sort in my tent (it is the rainy season in South Africa).
4. Teamwork! When a windstorm comes through in the middle of the night and you are living in a tent sometimes your squad mates’ tent will break and you have to make a quick move to get them under shelter.
5. Ministry is not always ideal but the Lord ALWAYS abundantly provides what we need.
6. The truth of how I fell in love with 3 alumni squad leaders and on Friday November 29, 2013, they left us to go home to America. This is now a time for us to define who we are as Q squad and what kind of legacy we want to leave with our name.
7. That it is indeed possible to find all the needed fixings and turkeys to feed 45 Americans for Thanksgiving in South Africa.
8. How wonderful it is to attend a church service in English!
9. Mr. Price is the best store ever to find clothes in South Africa!
10. New teams means new uncomfortable places and requires asking the Lord to give you the strength you need to learn to love them.
11. How much I love the World Race and the reality that I have chosen into the vision AIM has laid for the 11 month Kingdom Journey.
Thanks for following my journey and the support you continue to give me. In the hard days and moments that I miss home, I am reminded of the reality and goodness of this adventure and how much the Lord has taught me and continues to give me daily. Without leaving home to abandon everything, I could never have experienced the Lord in the ways I have the last 11 months. I have seen Him in new ways and through the journey my heart has broken and renewed itself as I continue to learn about the Lord and better myself for the Kingdom.
