11 things that make me feel at home around the World:

  1. When I walked into a coffee shop in Thailand, there was AC, Blake Shelton playing, and it was called Ducky Dolly.  Side note on ducks, Lori Powell used to be Gibson has a nickname of Ducky and it made me think of her.  Met her while working at Caswell and now she is due with her first baby very soon!?
  2. A golden retriever named Snowy living in the hostel where I am staying in Vietnam.  He is beautiful, from England, and only understands Vietnamese but I am trying to break this.
  3. When I go somewhere and there is a Western toilet, this for most definitely makes me feel at home.  Being able to sit and not have to squad is a nice reminder or home.  You may think this is wield or strange but it all makes since due to the fact that my dad is a plumber!?
  4. Living by a river in Cambodia considering the summertime at home I spend lots of time at the river with my dad “On the pontoon boat.”  I grew up around water and even though I couldn’t swim in this water, it was water and made me think of being on Lake Norman at home.
  5. While in Seem Reap. Cambodia, for debrief, I spend 5 afternoons lounging by a pool.  During the summertime at home I do my best to spend as much time as I can by the pool.  Working on my tan, relaxing, and hanging out with friends.
  6. Eating the best Pad Thai in my life at Zion Café in Thailand.  Being that Thai is my most favorite cuisine and I thoroughly enjoy going to have Thai in Charlotte, for any and every occasion.
  7. Living in close quarters with my team, and always having someone around.  Through I have found I still enjoy my Michelle time, I thrive when others are around.  There is always someone to talk with, listen, cry with, go out with, or just be in each other presence even if this means with our headphones in.
  8. Reading monthly notes from my friend Madisson Wisher and her encouragement from around the world.  She wrote me a note for each month, to open at the beginning of each month.
  9. Facetiming, Skypeing, and seeing what everyone is doing at home through social media. I fell I can still be involved and know a bit of what is happening in my peeps lifes.
  10. Coming across KFC in Vietnam and walking in every time announcing, “I am home!”  They have vanilla soft serve cones that are dipped in chocolate and that is one of favorites at home.  These are on special now for like $0.25 but they are Asian sized.
  11. Seeing G0d’s people all around the world and how He loves each of us.  No matter what color our skin, our languages, our height and size, or any barriers.  His presence is EVERYWHERE, all around the world He created!
