Expectations
Leave them at home and don’t look back!!
I arrived at training camp about 4pm Saturday May 18th to begin my weeklong journey of training with Q, R, S, and T squads. Each squad contains about 50 men and women between the ages of 21-35. I have the privilege of being on Q squad and gained a new family! The first few days consisted of sessions of individual healing, mourning, grieving and individually preparing us for the field. One session was healing and we prayed over my back, it is healed… HOLLAR!! That’s right, you read healed by the Holy Spirit:) The second part of the week consisted of team building and being assigned to our teams for the year. This was the basic flow of the week and where the Lord began to work in my life.
My first session was the greatest and hardest to hear: My expectations and Rights for the Race. I thought I had none but was proved wrong the first night. My rights are to know what I’m doing and have a schedule; this is not the case for the next year of my life.
Lessons I learned from Training Camp:
Lesson #1: there is no set schedule and they change by the second.
Lesson #2: you NEVER know where and how you will sleep.
Lesson #3: liberation in showering in the lake and using a hose to wash my hair.
Lesson #4: the love and passion of the AIM staff!! And the truth and love from your training team.
Lesson #5: the rain doesn’t stop just because you’re living in a tent for the week.
Lesson #6: What’s going to work…TEAMWORK!! ( my chant, I will chant it for you, anytime.)
Lesson #7: Worship on the Race is going to be the most legit I have ever experienced.
Lesson #8: I will eat LOTS of carbs this next year and am much more thank-full for fiber. To have fluids with meals, don’t forget your water bottle.
Lesson #9: truth in visions and love from feedback.
Lesson #10: Don’t forget your World Race SWAG!! Swag is World Race attire:)
This past week I felt the Holy Spirit like I never have before and felt His presence inside of me. He has brought 49 individuals together to form Q Squad and they all embraced me for exactly who I am. Every single person embraced me and loved me for exactly the way I am (or least they faked it well). They learned real quick my love for singing and making a joyful noise. With their love I am ready to begin this next journey and see God in the world. If you want to hear more, I would love to share one on one and share my heart that the Lord has given me for the nations.
Support Update:
