We are staying in Dar Es Salaam and we went an hour out of where we were staying to this village that was absolutely beautiful. The paths were sandy and you felt like if you kept walking that you would run into the beach. This city that we have been ministering at has been spiritually hard. This city is pretty huge for Islamic people. I have noticed some that smile at us and seem pretty welcoming, but there are lots that are pretty unhappy that we are there, well that’s what my spirit feels anyway. Sometimes we walk by them and greet them, but sometimes they just look ahead and act like you are not even there. I have so many questions that always arrive in my mind and one is how can you like someone you have never met? One of the things I have had a hard time with is the children. Not because they are not adorable or anything like that, but when you walk by them smiling because all you want to do is love them and the only thing they know is to cry or reject you. I can already feel how the Lord’s heart breaks. When we first got here the pastor that we are working with explained a bit about the back ground in this town and community and the children. These children from when they are younger are brought to witch doctors and taught at a younger age in this. So of course these children are going to reject us and be afraid of us because we are God’s light and they have had darkness brought into their lives at such a young age and know nothing else. In the bible it says to not worship any other Gods. How can we look away from God’s Children? That’s it we can’t, we have to pray and believe that the Lord will work this out and He will. These children might have not known anything else, but we were brought here because God wanted us here. So we are shining His light in this town and on these children. Things will change.
So we went into this town and we first visited this church that was just amazing it was made of sticks and just filled with Gods spirit through the whole church. I was standing there in the corner just praying over the church and singing to the Lord and the first thing that came to my mind was the word canopy and I just saw a picture of a beautiful canopy bed and God whispering like He always does in my ear “This is the place where my children will rest with me.” These moments with the Lord are costly.
After praying over the church and the community we went door to door evangelizing. I really enjoyed this in Kenya Africa, but for some weird reason it was much different doing it this time in Tanzania. I think the reasoning of this is because most people that are of different religions don’t want to speak to you or they are not interested in what you have to say. I remember walking up on this older lady that was sitting there on the ground and we approached her and started talking to her and we were about to pray with her. I walked behind her and touched her head. Her reaction not only surprised me but startled me along with her. I apologized for scaring her and felt this check in my spirit. I felt automatically the enemy trying to hold me down and speak lies in me. She walked away from us and decided not to get prayer. Again, my first thought was “what did I do?” I made one of your children Lord walk away that could have been saved. God has grace on us and these situations are all a learning process.
