Well we are in the bush this month!!!

That’s exactly what I said. We made it to our ministry destination in Gulu/Uganda. We are living in mud huts in the middle of no where. Taking tub baths and walking far away to get our water and going to town maybe once a week to get food and cooking outside. Kind of sounds like we are camping right? But I love it!! I love the people, I love the kids, I love the sunsets and I love that God chose me and brought me here. I have had the most amazing time with the Lord and it’s only been a few weeks here. There is so much going on here and so much that God wants to do in this town Lukodi.

The first few days I spent with the children loving and playing with them. They are brought up so differently than what I have seen or known in the states. I just look at how different many things are from the states, and one is not better than the other. The question that always goes around at one time or another is??? Is the poverty worse here or over in the states?? I honestly would have to say no. But there are so many things that these children don’t have here that the children have in the states. It does not matter though who has it worse than the other. What matters is how can we bring the gospel to these children and love them like Jesus would. I love children!! The more and more I walk down the street I just want to love them all. There are about 30 plus children in this center with these mothers and watching and playing with them has been so much fun, but hard at the same time because I know I’m going to have to leave them soon. These children have nothing to play with, but plastic bottles and if you could see the smiles on their faces it’s priceless. I just am in awe how these children have so little and are so happy with life. Just watching them brings joy to me and my spirit. Something just comes alive in with me when I am with these kids.

I have been also visiting the older kids and teaching them about the bible and reading them stories in school. I used the book of Jonah that I preached on last month and spoke to these kids about it and they loved it! Something about talking to children about Jesus always makes me feel at ease. I also have been helping the little ones with their abc’s and writing them. I noticed something the other day when I was working with this little girl and showing her how to write her abc’s and she just could not figure it out and teaching her with love and patience she understood so quickly as to laughing at her and yelling at her.
