I’m finishing this blog in Hong Kong because about a special little girl that God used me to touch while in Manila Philippines in Anti Polo to love and minister to. Her name is Vanessa. She is a young 13 year old girl that I tutored in school. I would love to think that I made a difference in her life by just loving her in a way that God loves her and that’s what I did. We had so many wonderful times together. I had a choice last week of two ministries that I absolutely love and she was one of them. I gave it to the Lord to help me figure out which one I needed to choose first. This was one of the hardest things I had to pray about, but it was something that I had to give to the Lord because I wanted to be obedient and be where God needed me. The ministry that He wanted me to choose was Vanessa. One of things she wanted to do before I left was paint together. Not only is this young girl a smart beautiful young women, but she is so talented in art and her favorite subject in school is Bible. I remember the first time I met her. Her art stood out and I knew that God pointed to her and said that is the child that you will be giving my love to. We connected right away and she told me everything about her life instantly and I thought this is such a God thing. Well it was even more of a God thing when I found out that Vanessa needed a tutor. One of my teammates Cara walked in after having a meeting about tutoring the kids at the school and told me that they are looking for two tutors and one of the little girls that they needed a tutor for was Vanessa. I was just laying there asking God what He wanted from me while I was there. I instantly jumped up from my bed and talked to one of the volunteers and explained to them that I would love to help her. I normally freak out with anything to do with teaching because it’s not my gift, but in this case I did not freak out one bit. I just kept thinking how excited I was to love on this little girl and spend the month just building her up in her faith. What a God thing!!
A picture of the children saying good bye the last time!
I remember October 26th pretty clearly. I went up to the children home to say bye to the kids and vanessa and they were getting ready to go to church. I still remembr that moment where all the kids were in the van waving and saying “bye tita” and then the van door opened and Vanessa came running out and towards me and gave me the biggest hug and said bye one last time and I kissed her on the head and told her that I loved her. She gave me some good bye letters and drew a picture for me that I wanted to share with you guys! I know God will have me come back to Manila just for her someday soon.
