Vidin, Bulgaria is where we now find ourselves. Working with a music, art ministry and outreach to orphanages and gypsy communities. Already on our first day we have found ourselves at an orphanage for adults with mental disabilities.
Let me tell you the challenges they may have mentally do not have any hold on their creative ability by any means. Amoung their belonging there are numerous arts and crafts they have done. From crafts made of egg shells, magazines, beans, tins, margerine containers and basically anything that can be recycled is.
Everything has a purpose in the home they live in and though each has personal limitations, within them all they are able to help and make a home, complete a family.
The thing I wonder is how can I take what I have seen and apply it back home, when I am home? (who knows really when that will be)
Most of us know that biblically we are meant to create a community where none of us lack. Where what we have to offer is to better the world, the church, our neighbours, and those in need. If you read what Paul writes about what the body (church) is to look like in
1 Corinthians 12:12-31, Acts 4:42-37
Each person has their part to play in the church and though this is not all church is. A question I would think more of is, is each person playing there part. Are we as a church doing what we are called biblically to do?
