Since writing the blogs about going to Guadalhorce to minister to the women on the streets, I have been able to go 2 times more. I apologize for not sharing those stories with you until now.
The second time I went, the weather was more sunny. I find that each time it gets sunnier and sunnier. I believe it’s a beautiful imagery of light coming into the darkness and it gets brighter every time we go.

The second time Kristen and I partnered up. It was February 12- Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. Abraham Lincoln was a bold leader in fighting for others and I loved the idea of us fighting for these women on his birthday. We had flowers, cookies and muffins to give to the women that we met.
We spoke with 3 different women. All hungry-literally. They were quick to accept the muffins and cookies. One even taking the muffin from the road that was accidentally dropped saying that it couldn’t be wasted.
Lovett shared stories of how she works to feed herself. She is from Nigeria and has been in Spain for several years now. I was excited to speak with Lovett because the first time I came out, she took an orange from my hand and walked away. Through the conversation, she slowly started unfolding the heartbreaks from her parents’ death and why she was in Spain.
We asked her… “If she could be anything and do anything in the world, what would you do?”
She responded with, “I don’t know. I would do anything. Anything to get me home.”
She broke my heart in that single sentence. She had lost the desire to dream.
After digging and re-asking the question in a different way, she dejectedly said, “Maybe an accountant?”
We are told to dream BIG. That the world is OURS. Dream big and do big! I feel that as we get older, our dreams become less but do they ever completely disappear? They shouldn’t.
What really peeves me is that somewhere down the line, someone told Lovett that she couldn’t dream, that she wasn’t worth it. That she couldn’t do whatever she wanted.
Again, our words have so much power. If HE is trusting us with HIS image, BE HIS WORDS.
