1/15/11 Day 125

Hello friends!!

God is good!! It is hard to believe that we are halfway through Kenya. God has been doing some amazing things through the Q Squad! We have seen many salvations usually several each day. Here in Africa, white people (of any nationality) are referred to as Mzungus. Kenyans enjoy talking to mzungus that makes it easy to share the Gospel here.

Our team has been going out door to door quite a bit as well as just walking around the community near the church in order to meet people and get to know them. A few days ago (Tuesday I believe), Pastor Ezekiel and myself set out to meet with a young man named Edward. Edward is a new Christian. God changed his life on December 12th. Deliverance Church does an amazing job with follow up. We headed over to the house where he is staying. When we got there we were told that he was not home but should be shortly. Pastor and I waited around and took tea (which is done like 3 or 4 times a day!). We waited around for what seemed like 45 minutes. We left our phone number and decided to head back for lunch. As we exited the house we headed back out on the dirt road before us. We saw two of my teammates, Jenny and Amy, talking with an individual. They asked we if wefd come over and pray with them. They had been talking to him for an hour before he decided they could pray for him. They had already been praying with this man for several minutes when we arrived. This man lives just down the way in the Kibera slums. There are some 2 million displaced Kenyans living in this section of the country. He has not been able to see out of his right eye for about 8 or so months. It was poked by a thorn of some sort. After Jenny and Amy had prayed for him he was able to notice a slight change. It still was not completely healed so we joined in to pray for this man. Now he was able to make out shadows. About that time, our new brother Edward was passing by. We decided to head over with Edward and left the man with Jenny and Amy. They felt impressed to keep praying for his eye. There was only the slightest bit of change after this but Amy heard God tell her it is finished! The man remained unable to see out of his right eye though.

We had the opportunity to encourage and pray for Edward. He is 19 and hoping to start university in September. He has been at the church everyday since then just hanging out with us and even working with us a bit. Yesterday while waiting for our lunch or maybe tea lol we got a message from the gatekeeper of the church. The man who was blind in his right eye just a few days ago was no longer blind in his right eye!! His note to the guard said that he could see again!! You can’t read this and not believe that our God is good!! That is just one of the many miracles that our squad has seen. Other teams have reported of the lame walking!

Please continue to keep our teams in your prayers. Four people from 2 different teams have already contracted malaria don’t worry though, my team is in the city and it is said that there is no malaria in the city. Most of the teams are not in the city and out in the villages. And yes Mom, I sleep under my mosquito net every night just in case!

Much love from Kenya!
