Kindness leading to repentance….
It’s the kindness of the Lord that leads us to repentance. Too often we look to some prize we hope to gain, or fear for some punishment, when all along….. true repentance, is brought about by the Kindness of the Lord! He does not bribe us, or punish us….. He does not tally our righteous acts and take points away for each sin. He is kind! In His kindness, we know we can trust Him. We can trust that whatever He is asking us to do, will be in our best interest, best for those around us, best for the lost and hurting, and will bring Him Glory!
Romans 2:4 has really hit home lately. Here is in a few different translations:
God is kind, but he’s not soft. In kindness he takes us firmly by the hand and leads us into a radical life-change. (Message)
Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? ( NLT)
the kindness of God leads you to repentance (NASB)
Are you unmindful or actually ignorant [of the fact] that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repent (<sup value='[a]’>[a]to change your mind and inner man to accept God’s will)? (AMP)
Have you encountered the kindness of the Lord? Will you allow the Kindness of the Lord to be your reason to turn to Him…. to run to Him?
