Hi everyone, I know its been a long while since I posted a blog. I have been having the most amazing time here in Lesotho. We are partnered with a ministry called Africa 4 Jesus. We are in a super remote village about 2 hours from Maseru, one of the two major cities in Lesotho. For those that don’t know, Lesotho is a small country located within South Africa.

We live amidst the beautiful mountains. Literally our 360 degree view is breathtaking. We wake every morning seeing pastures, mountains and hearing cow bells. We have limited solar electricity, no flush toilets, but thankfully we have water.

We have had the opportunity to walk to two villages each morning. My team has gone to Ithapeneng, the other team we are with goes to Mahosein. During village time we have the chance to evangelize and to help people with daily tasks.

Most people in these villages live in small one or two room houses. They walk anywhere from a few hundred feet to a kilometer for water. Almost everything is cooked in a cauldron over a fire outside. We have gotten the great chance to help fetch water, make pop, prepare and cook a kale mix, husk corn, and many many other things.

We have also gotten to share Jesus with some people who knew about Him, but had no idea of the significance. We had the chance to clarify and answer questions and invite people to church and to a bible study where they could learn more.

In the afternoons we went back to the ranch, for lack of a better descriptor. We live on a plot of land with our hosts home, a church, and a preschool. There is also a chicken coop, and a great garden. We have gotten to collect rocks to form a sidewalk, we have mixed cement for paving the sidewalk and a bike track for the kids. We painted the preschool, a sandbox, and some tire guard rails.

I even had the great opportunity to teach basic first aid to the preschool teachers and other women who were interested in learning. I had 12 students who all learned how to take a heart rate for the first time. It was really priceless to see their faces when they actually felt their pulse and then learned to feel their neighbors pulse. 🙂 Proud moment. It was great.

I also had a chance to teach knitting to our host and to a few girls at the community center. Some of the gals picked it up right away but others needed more practice. It was fun teaching them a new skill and I really felt like I had something to offer by doing this.

On our off days we had the chance to go horseback riding to a waterfall. We also got the chance to stay at the lodge, which is a 30 minute walk from our house. At the lodge, where I am now, we have beds, wifi, hot water and a flush toilet. Its the little things. 🙂

That is pretty much what this month has looked like. I hope to include a few pictures so you can see what we have been up to. Otherwise be sure to check my Facebook page for all my other pictures.

We are officially past the half way mark of this trip. I can hardly believe it. Time is flying by.
