No, not me. The children. This month, for two weeks we are helping teach English at Centro Educativo Bilingue Gracia y Paz. Its been a lot of fun being in a school and interacting with kids. Its also been super frustrating. These kids are out of control.
The classroom is NEVER quiet, the kids sit in their chairs for 30 seconds then are out before I even turn around. Instead of raising their hands, they yell ‘teacher, teacher, teacher’ over and over then eventually just get up and go stand by her, poke her and repeat teacher over and over.
Some of the kids are learning, others just copy their neighbors, while others just goof off and go play with pogs or some other toys. The constant chaos and noise seriously is driving me nuts.
But, I’ve been reading 1 Corinthians 13, a lot. And its good to get a reminder that love is patient and love is kind, even when you want to dole out detentions to all the naughty kids.
On the flip side, we did have a fun adventure day last week. We got to meet Candice’s Abuela and other Panamanian family members. They are the best! Seriously, I love them!! We actually went to the Panama Canal with a few of them and had an amazing lunch at her Aunts house. The team and I felt so blessed to get to experience that.
The next two weeks is Unsung Hero’s. This means that we will not have contacts or a place to stay that is pre-arranged. But we get to go out and search and find new hosts and contacts for the race. We let set up everything ourselves and we pray for success. We will be heading to Panama City on Friday to begin this adventure. 🙂
So please pray for my team as this journey begins! 🙂 More to come!
Love you all! Missing home a LOT!!
