This month we are the people most Americans hide from. Don’t worry, I’m guilty of it too.
We are going door to door telling everyone we meet how much Jesus loves them. The biggest difference though, is here we are completely welcomed into each home with open arms. They bring out their objects to sit on and give your their full attention. They’re eager to hear what you have to share with them, and some even ask you to tell them about Jesus before you get the chance to. They know why we are here, and they’re eager to talk to us.

Imagine if we went door to door in America telling people about our good Father. People would hide. People would shut off their lights and close their blinds so it looks like no one is home. Its almost like our worst nightmare. But why? Why wouldn’t we welcome them into our home with open arms, getting out our best china plates or at least offer them a drink?

One main thing I’ve learned on the race is how bad I am at sharing. No, I don’t want to give you some of my peanut butter or a drink of my Zion smoothie, please stop asking. But, I’ve also realized that I could always get more. God always provides for us and gives us everything we need. Would it really hurt me to give someone some of my peanut butter? No. It’s not the end of the world.

Every single country we’ve been to, they have gone above and beyond to host us. They share every single thing with us. They cook, clean, and make sure we have everything we need. They take us to the city when we want wifi or the clinic when somethings is weird. They show us incredible hospitality and welcome us in as their own family. Even the random houses we go to for ministry share whatever they have with us without hesitation. Their graciousness continues to blow me away.

More times than not, the people we interact with make less money than we do, but they are SO much better at sharing than I am. No matter where you go, they’re willing to give you the shirt off their back. Literally. They’re willing to give you anything they have and more! It’s incredibly humbling.

Most of my favorite memories this month has been sitting inside homes just talking about how awesome our Lord is. I’m inspired my other people’s faith and what God has done in their life. We’re all brothers and sisters in Christ and all the way over here in Zimbabwe I get to spend some time with my sister. I get to worship with my brother. All because they completely opened their home and welcomed us in like one of their own.

Jesus did this too. He invites us all to come and eat at the table with him. He shares everything with us and just wants to hang out with us. He literally gave his life for us. The least we can do is welcome others in and serve them. It also creates some awesome memories!

I encourage everyone to invite someone over for a cards or dinner. Invite them into your home and make lasting memories! Catch up on life and spend time with friends. Doing life with others is an amazing opportunity and you’ll never regret it!
