Excerpt from God is the Kindest Person I’ve Ever Met by Graham Cooke:

“What God has called us to do is impossible for us.  He has not called us to do what is reasonable, He has not called us to do what is obtainable, He has not called us to do what is possible.  He has called us to do things that are utterly impossible for us to do.  So impossible, all we can do is bleep out “I can’t do this!”  And God just grins and says, “I know.”  “I’m totally useless”, and He smiles at you and says, “Oh, you’re perfect then”.  “I’m completely monumentally stupid”, and the Lord says, “Ah, yeah I know, your just so right for me”.
All of life in the Spirit is paradoxical.  A paradox is two apparently conflicting ideas, contained in the same truths.  So God Himself is a paradox, hey?  He’s a righteous judge on the one hand, who demands the death penalty for sin.  But He’s a loving Father on the other hand who pays the price Himself.  And in this paradox of spirituality, you have to die to live.  You have to give to receive.  You have to be last to be first.”

I think that if I could let this settle into my spirit, it would save me a lot of trouble:  What God has called me to do is impossible.  If I could get a firm grip on this reality, then I wouldn’t waste any time frantically searching for ‘the answer’ that is going to make my circumstances possible.  Instead, I will remember that Jesus is the answer and that the only way to do what HE has called me to do, is to allow Him to live through me.  I’m not strong enough.  I’m not smart enough.  I’m not creative enough.  I’m not as organized or prepared as I need to be.  All these thoughts will overwhelm you until you realize, “Christ in YOU, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1).  It’s usually when I come to a point of brokenness on a matter that things finally start to turn.  I remember I’m not able, and that Jesus is.  Then I call upon the name of the Lord and I am saved.  Saved from myself, and ready to allow Jesus to do the impossible through my life.

I think God is looking for men and women who are just foolish enough to say “Yes” to the impossible things He is calling them to.
