Hello wonderful people,
There are twenty one days remaining on my World Race. I am really enjoying this last month here in Ukraine. While the temperature is right around 115 degrees, it is a dry heat, and so it doesn't bother us as much as the months in extreme humidity. Ministry is great. I get to teach kids how to play softball, share testimonies and the gospel, and also share in some great conversations with our contacts. We also show films at night after the softball camp. Last night the campers got to watch Facing the Giants dubbed over in Russian. (Did I mention we are only miles away from the Russian border? There is actually a giant statue of Lenin in the town square, woohoo!)
We spent a few days ministering at a youth camp. We did some more sports ministry, shared testimonies, and performed a couple small dramas. Oh, one night I was lying on a bench away from the main meeting and just talking with God, when I heard "Americana's" in between some russian words I didn't understand. I got up and saw from a distance my team walking up towards the front. I ran over and was a little late in joining them on stage. While I was standing up there, I asked Matthew who was sharing testimonies, and he told me Nicole and me! So I had a few seconds to pull together my composure and pray about what to talk about. Then after sharing testimonies, they asked us to play a song, and so Nicole Sage and I had a few seconds to quickly decide on a song to play and just go for it! We played "Blessed be Your name" because it is easy and we know it, and I really enjoyed playing the electric drumset. God continues to bless me with opportunities to play drums. I look forward to learning more back in the states and hopefully continuing to play in worship bands.
