Yesterday was a special day for me; it was my two-year anniversary since promising God “not another drop of alcohol”. Alcohol took control of my life during college, and brought me to many low points. Drunkenness took me far from God. It damaged my relationships, college career and finances. God rescued me from a life in sin, by giving me an opportunity to start living for Him again. God brought me to a point where I needed to decide between His will and mine – ultimately between life and death. That night was December 30th, 2007, when God gave me the words “not another drop”. They were tough to promise, but they brought me freedom. Since that night, by the grace of God, I haven’t had a drop of alcohol.
Know that I don’t judge people who drink. The bible doesn’t say not to ever have a drop of alcohol, that is simply what was needed to free me from something that had taken over my life. The bible does state very clearly that drunkenness is a sin.
After I quit drinking there were still a few months before I really started living for God. What was missing in my life was Christian fellowship. Fellowship provided me with a firm foundation in Christ. It spurred me on to live a better life, and live that life completely souled out to Christ.
I want to give a Shout-Out to all the Campus Crusaders back at UW-Milwaukee who came alongside me and had a great impact on my life. Thanks for everything, I miss you all and can’t wait to hang out again in Milwaukee!
I also want to thank everyone who has prayerfully and financially supported me on this World Race mission. I have been learning a lot, and am being challenged every day. I am incredibly blessed by you!
