Dear friends and family,

Hello! I hope you are doing well.  Since the mission trip to Ghana, Africa, God has been teaching me in many ways, and has given me a heart for the nations and a call toward missions. I was excited when I found out about an opportunity to join the World Race, a year of missions work through Adventures in Missions. God has made my calling to the October ’09 World Race clear, and I am excited to be sent! I leave on September 26th! God can do a lot with someone who practices daily surrender, and that is what I strive for. If I can remain faithful and obedient to what God is calling me to do, I, like the apostles, will see this world turned upside down for Christ.

The World Race involves seven teams traveling around the world for a year, 11 countries in 11 months. In each nation – Guatemala, Nicaragua, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Moldova, Ukraine, and Romania – we will have opportunities to minister the hope of Jesus, build relationships, preach the good news, plant churches, work in orphanages, and serve the community. During the trip, I will be trained and discipled in various areas of ministry and missions. Through this experience, I hope to learn complete surrender to Christ, promote self-discipline, and become a strong leader.

The Kingdom of God is relational. The heart of this program is to build relationships through discipleship, and usher people into living the Kingdom Life. The bible makes our mission clear. Jesus said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…” (Matthew 28:19-20). We are to feed the hungry, give the thirsty something to drink, and clothe those who need clothes (Matthew 25:35-36). Jesus said we are to “heal the sick, raise the dead, and drive out demons” (Matthew 10:8). We are to “look after orphans and widows in their distress” (James 1:27). Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation” (Mark 16:15). The World Race is an opportunity to do these things! Maybe the most exciting thing Jesus said was “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12). There are 46 racers on our squad, and let me tell you, we HAVE that kind of faith!

While this trip is going to minister to the people we encounter and our entire squad, God also wants to minister to you. Through joining this mission prayerfully and financially, you will be blessed by making an impact for the Kingdom here and now. You will also be blessed by making an eternal impact. Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age and in the age to come, eternal life” (Mark 10:29-30). Anyone who makes a sacrifice for Jesus and the gospel, will be blessed a hundred times over in this life and the life to come, eternal life. You will get to experience the ministries in each country through blogs, pictures and video, and know that YOU had a part in the mission. You will hear about people surrendering their life to Christ, and know that YOU had a part in furthering the Kingdom of God. As you read about people being delivered from sin and bondage, and people receiving healing, you can rejoice that YOU got to send the hands and feet of Jesus out into the world!

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. –Jesus (Matthew 6:19-21)
