why walk when you can run?
tonight I went for a run, which was amazing. I haven’t run in a while because of my knees, but tonite I ran. I made it around the lake and was more than happy with that. as I was running, I ran past a couple who were walking in the same direction I was running. God put it on my heart to pray for them, but I had already run past them. so I had to get sneaky. I stopped and re-tied my shoes, and allowed them to catch up. I told them I pray as I run, and asked if they had any prayer requests. Terry did not, but Tori said she had her first day of college coming up, and asked me to pray for that. I gave her some words of encouragement, let her know I would pray for her, and then continued on with my run.
as I continued to run, God challenged me to pray for the next people I saw. I was a little hesitent at first, but then decided it was silly to debate. so from that point on I just prayed for everyone I passed. I figure everyone could

use some prayer or encouragement or even just an encounter with a bold Christian (Christ was bold, so we really hurt His image when we act timidly). It is silly to debate whether or not you should talk to someone about Christ, or pray for them, or pray that they get healed. Satan is never going to tell you to go out and share your faith, or go heal someone. And even if you don’t get a clear message from Heaven, we have the mind of Christ, so we can decide to pray for whoever! One couple said they were having a great night, and couldn’t think of anything for me to pray about. Kathy asked that I pray for her job situation, Luke asked me to pray for his mom, Joanna, who has cancer, a couple parents asked me to pray for guidance for their son Kyle, one woman asked me to pray for Ken who had a stroke and is going to die.
some people may have a hard time just praying for people randomly like that, but I think it is actually harder to pass people, and look at the ground without saying anything and without impression. it was the simplest thing for me to do, to offer prayer to those I passed, and just think about the impact it will have on those individuals! especially when Tori has an amazing experience at college and meets God and lives for Him, and that couple knows how much they are blessed, and Kathy’s job situation gets worked out and she praises God, and Luke’s mother Joanna gets completely healed from all cancers and has her body completely restored, and Kyle receives guidance from the greatest source, Jesus Christ, and Ken miraculously is healed and has his mind restored to that of an intelligent 18 year old man, and lives.
I don’t know if it is God’s will for all this to come to pass, but I prayed for it, and you can be sure God is able to do immeasurably more than all I asked or could even imagine for these individuals (see Ephesians 3:20). God loves opportunities to show Himself strong and show off His mighty power. I believe these things will come to pass, and as they do lives will be radically changed and those involved will come to Jesus.
God loves to show off His amazing power, just look around you as you step outside. Look at the amazing creation all around you. God wants to show off His power through you, so the question is, will you allow Him?
so… prayer run anybody?
