Nicaragua

Nicaragua is the 2nd country we will be ministering in, and it is also the 2nd poorest in Latin America.  The country is full of hopelessness, addictions, and destitution.  One of the ways we will be ministering, is by going to the slums and loving on people.  There are people who actually live in garbage dumps, and maybe never get talked to or even looked at by the outside world.  We’re talking moms, dads, older generations and kids.  So picture these people who are the poorest of the poor, rejected by their own society, and now picture people coming from another part of the world simply to love them.  People who have given up a year of their life, including all the comforts of the American lifestyle, just to be with them.  People who are going to look them in the eye, people who are going to smile with them, hug them, and minister to their needs.  Now don’t think I believe that we are the “Americans who are going to save the world!”  But here is what we are, we are people who have Jesus Christ, who DID save the world, and so we have something to give, and it is the greatest gift ever!
