This is Secia.

Secia has hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is a condition where fluid builds up inside the skull which leads to brains swelling, also know as “water on the brain”.
Secia is 17 months old. She hasn’t always looked this way. When she was born she appeared to be a normal, healthy baby. Secia, however, has never been a normal, healthy baby. She was born with this condition. She was born with a broken body.
Her skull was cracked in 3 places leaving 2/3 of her brain exposed to all the dangers of the world. She was born with only 3 of the 5 senses. She is deaf and unable to hear her mother’s beautiful voice as she sings Secia to sleep. Without the protection of eyelids, she has lost the ability to see all of the wondrous things God has created for her to enjoy. Secia was born to a life confined to a bed, eating all of her food out of a feeding tube.
Secia is going to die.
At least that is what the doctors say.
I believe something different.
Secia’s current circumstances are an unacceptable reality. Our God is bigger than our circumstances, and our circumstances do not have to define our lives. God has given us the ability to heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast our demons (Matthew 10:8). Secia does not have to live in this unacceptable reality. We have the ability to change this through prayer and faith in God. God doesn’t care if you live in Seattle, Michigan, Georgia or anywhere else in the world; He can use you to change the world in Nicaragua all the way from your home in the United States, but you have to step up. You have to pray powerful prayers and believe in those prayers. God wants to heal Secia, and whether you know it or not He wants to use you to do that.
The last time I saw Secia was about 2 weeks ago; when I left her brain was still swollen, and she was blind, deaf and confined to her bed eating out of a feeding tube. I don’t know if I will ever see Secia again; my guess would be probably not. However, I will continue to pray for her to be healed. I do this because my desire is not to see Secia healed, but to have her experience healing so that she can live a life fully experiencing all of the beauties of this world, like hearing her mother’s voice, running and playing games with the other kids in her neighborhood, laughing like crazy, eating ice cream and seeing the sunset.
Our desire should always be for people to experience healing so that they can fully experience life and give God the glory and not just to see healing for the sake of healing.
One day Secia will be healed, running through the streets of Nicaragua praising God. This is going to happen through prayer. Will you be a part of it?
