Hello there! I hope you and your family are doing well. I am writing this letter to let you know what I have been up to lately, and to invite you to join me in an amazing opportunity that I have the privilege to pursue.
In May of 2011, I graduated from Union University with a degree in Psychology and in Business Management. That August, I started an MBA program at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Upon completion of that program in August of 2012, I entered the work force and began working in executive management at Target in Memphis, TN. Everything was going well and I was settling in to a normal routine. However, that soon changed. I enjoyed working at Target, but I left there to pursue a job in Denver, CO. Unfortunately, that job opportunity did not end up working out, and I was stuck back at square one. After looking at different job opportunities, I came across a missions opportunity that caught my eye. I had actually looked into this program before I went to graduate school, but I decided that it wasn’t the right time. Now I feel that it is the right time, and I’m excited to tell you about what my next year will look like on the adventure known as The World Race!
The World Race is an 11-month mission trip with a non-denominational organization known as Adventures in Missions. The World Race is a backpacking adventure that will take me to over 11 different countries on three different continents. The only belongings that I will have will be what I can fit into my backpack, and the only guaranteed accommodations will be a tent that I will have with me. I will be traveling with a group of around 45 people, and we will be working at different ministry sites within each of the 11 countries with the singular goal of spreading the news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people all over the world. We will be doing a wide range of ministry including evangelism, preaching, construction, orphan care, etc.
This adventure is a crazy one indeed. A journey that will stretch my faith and my physical abilities. I will be facing many obstacles, and I’m asking that you join me in helping me make this opportunity a reality. There are three main ways that you can help me in this way. First, I invite you to become a prayer partner with me. This means that one day a week, you would commit to praying for me, my team, and our ministry throughout the entire 11 months. Second, you could tell your friends and family about my journey, and have them pray and consider donating financially. Third, if you are able, I would be blessed if you would consider making a financial donation toward this opportunity. I am required to raise $16,285 in order to be fully funded, and I have to have at least $7,500 of that by January 1st. This cost covers all of my field expenses on the trip including travel, lodging, and food. I will also be raising $5,000 for a personal fund on the race, which will help me pay for gear, supplies, vaccinations, travel to the launch point, local ministry projects, etc. If you could help out in any one of the aforementioned ways, it would be greatly appreciated. Even if you aren’t able to, I appreciate the time you took to read this letter and your consideration.
