Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Mia Corbelli and I just recently graduated from Hampton High School. Beginning in September, I will be leaving the US for nine months to go serve God’s people. I would like to thank you all in advance for joining me on this journey. I can’t fully express how grateful I am for all the support I have been receiving, whether it be prayerful support or financial support.
A common question I’ve been asked is, why the World Race? Why not college? Jesus is my answer.
Earlier this year I had been accepted in Grand Canyon University (A Christian university in Phoenix, AX). I had an awesome roommate all lined up, I had visited the campus, I was ready to go. Little did I know the Lord had other plans for me.
Throughout the course of High School I had always had the idea to postpone college for the year in the back of my head. I wasn’t sure about the idea of spending the next four years of my life at a university, furthering my education, but I ignored these thoughts. In our culture today you’re supposed to go to college right after High School and so that was what I planned on doing. However, when the Lord laid mission work on my heart, my perspective changed.
I began to see that I don’t have to conform to society’s norms, I just have to follow God’s unique plan for me. So I began to search for mission opportunities all over the world. I applied to many places and the World Race was one of them. God closed lots of other doors in other mission organizations that I applied to, but he opened the door to the World Race. I am beyond excited to pursue the Lord in new and exciting ways as I travel into Central America, Asia, and Africa and help the surrounding communities as God works through me.
Although this mission trip is an extremely exciting venture, it will also be a challenge. I need to raise a total of $12,491. I know that this may seem like an unfeasible goal, but I have full faith in the Lord and I know that he will use his people in order to reach this goal. I want to thank you all again for joining me on the World Race. We are called to go and make disciples of all nations and I am honored to be called by God to go and do his work.
One of my all-time favorite bible verses is Jeremiah 29:11- “For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
I love this verse simply because it calls us to trust God’s plan for us, no matter how scary it may seem. I am following God’s plan for me as I join the World Race and I am excited to share my journey with you
