I graduated May 2012 from Columbia International University (a Bible college in Columbia, SC) with a double major in Bible and Communication. After college, I moved to Greenville, SC for a job at a wealth management firm.
I have always felt a calling to missions on my life and had a heart for Uganda, Thailand and India prior to the WR (one of the main reasons I chose this route is because I will be spending time in each of these countries). I believe the Lord may call me to long-term missions in one of these countries after the WR is over.
My favorite hymns are “Come Thou Fount” and “Be Thou My Vision”.
I am nervous about living in such close, genuine community for these 11 months because I am generally not vulnerable or too open with others. However, I do think this is one area where God will grow and stretch me the most and I am excited for how He is going to work in my heart in this area.
I enjoy eating more than I should and am not picky at all.
God has given me a passion to work with special needs children and adults and those who are victims of human trafficking.
At any given time, I am usually in the middle of 3-4 different books. Currently, I have been enjoying AW Tozer and Oswald Chambers.
I love being outdoors and hiking.
I was told of the WR through a friend back in September 2012 when I was talking about my heart for missions and the research I had done on some different mission organizations. That night, I went on the WR website and instantly felt that this is where God has called me for this season in my life.
Thanks for reading!
Isaiah 61:1-3
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.“
