El Shaddia is a beautiful place. It sit on top of a mountain overlooking endless mountains around it. There are about 65 orphans that live here along with 11 staff members that take care of them. I get to spend my mornings doing mostly manual labor, which is working in the corn field pulling weeds, and then spend my afternoons in the baby house.
Swaziland is about the size of New Jersey and has the highest HIV population in Africa. It is believed that Swaziland will be completely gone in 50 years, an entire country will die out in my lifetime. There is a spiritual battle going on here that my whole squad and I could feel when we arrived here. El Shaddia is surrounded by pot farms, witch doctors, and a government that doesn’t want them here. Evil is constantly trying to make its way in this place. Most children are sexually abused by the time they are eight years old and some the children here where going to be witch doctors so they were dedicated to Satan.
God has made one thing clear since we have been here, Swaziland will NOT die out in 50 years. The children here will grow old and are going to grow up to be the leaders of this country. The restoration of Africa is going to come out of Swaziland, out of El Shaddai. My heart is broken every day for these children just like how God’s heart is broken for these children too. God’s love is pouring off this mountain into all of Swaziland and into all of Africa.
