The Lord is challenging me to grow in prayer. The exercises we did at training camp about
listening prayer were so amazing in how God had something relevant to
that moment and that day.

(a quiet place to pray)

It’s funny that we call it listening
prayer and we practiced it at certain times, because it seems to me
that if we are really to take up our cross everyday, that most of what
we should be doing is listening. It was very exciting, too,
because when we did listen, God had things to say and people for us to
meet and minister to.

Ben Messner challenged us to declare each morning
that “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” and that has been
a great thing for me to do each day. We spend time praying about
the future, such as things we need, or about the past, help me from and
forgive me for my sins, yet we do not live in the past and we are not
guaranteed the future; so surrendering each day to the Lord is so
important.

The steps I have been practicing include offering myself and my day to
Lord first thing when I get up. I try to get on my knees before I
even let my feet touch the ground. When I wake up and put my feet
down the first thing I do is walk away and begin doing things to get
ready for the day. So, instead, I have been trying to roll
directly from my bed to my knees and begin each day in a posture of
prayer.

This is not a habit yet, but it is a deep desire so I
know that it will become one.

It’s kinda’s fun actually and I challenge you to try it.  First
thing in the morning roll right from bed to your knees.  It’s
powerful to remember throughout the day that the first move you made
that morning was to drop (literally…but don’t hurt yourself!) to your
knees.
God bless
