Cambodia started off strong having me try new things: eating a fried cricket and seeing an ancient wonder of the world! But the crazy experiences didn’t stop there! So Never Have I Ever:
- Only bathed 5 times in a month (with dirty water)
- Smelled so bad I grossed myself out
- Had a shirt smell so bad I actually gagged
- Used a squatty potty all month
- For breakfast ate: rice, fried chicken and ribs (the best ribs I’ve ever had!)
- Rode a bike to ministry
- Been so hot and sweaty—we read somewhere that in April it can hover around 110 degrees with crazy humidity
- Had farm animals for pets. I fell in love with a newborn chick, I named him Gunther. He disappeared 3 days before I left but I try and tell myself he was given away to a nice little kid
- Seen a movie (Battleship) for $3!
- Paid for a hotel room just so I could have a shower, real toilet and A.C.
- Seen people healed!
- Led a Pastor’s Conference
- Led a Youth Conference
- Eaten every meal outside
- Preferred having a fever because it meant I stopped sweating for a bit
- Had people line up to be prayed for
- Been to a Cambodian wedding where I was able to march in a fruit parade and the wedding favor was an envelope with cash in it! (granted it was about 10 cents, but awesome none-the-less)
- Had a smoothie every day (until half the team got typhoid fever so we stopped that real quick!)
So that’s my time in Cambodia! We are now in Malaysia working with YWAM (youth with a mission) working with 4 different ministries! We are working with a homeless shelter, a home for the blind, support raising for a hospital and Penang House of Prayer. It is going to be a very busy month but also probably super incredible!
