Well I can't really believe month 9 is done. Thailand was incredible! I had no idea what to expect (other than I knew I was going to LOVE the food…mmmmm…..pad thai….) and it totally blew my mind. The people are warm, the culture is beautiful, the food is delicious and the ministry was powerful. But like all good things it had to come to an end. So here's my list of things I've never done until I got to Thailand:
- Had my nosed re-pierced in the back of a pick-up truck, driving uphill in a crazy thunderstorm. so.much.pain.
- Had amazing shrimp and chicken pad thai for less than a dollar!!!!
- Eaten so much street meat!
- Been to so many bars in one night, one week and one month. (each night we'd go to 3 to 5 bars, 2-3 times a week. That's a lot of bars!)
- Went to bars with the sole purpose of befriending women.
- Only had Coke or water at the bars.
- Bought 2 movie tickets, 2 extra large drinks and 1 large popcorn for $15!!! (and yes I did get to see Hunger Games and yes I did love it!)
- Had to stand up before the movie for the National Anthem
- Had live sex be advertised as a tourist attraction.
- Spent the majority of my time driving in the back of a pick-up truck.
- Swam in ocean water that was so clear and so calm I though for a minute I was in a pool.
- Played so many games of connect four (the bar girls LOVE it!)
- Played a game in a bar where the goal is to swing a hammer and try to drive a nail into a huge hunk of tree. Does anyone else feel like this is a really terrible idea when there are drunk people everywhere!?! Though it was super fun!
- Stood up on a chair during worship because I felt like I needed to be closer to Heaven. (it was scary and invigorating all at the same time!)
- Had an iced coffee just about every day from 7-11.
- Hung out in 7-11 because it's air conditioned.
- Became obsessed with bubble tea because it was ice cold and only 15 cents (though I got it without the tapioca balls because they're weird!).
- Mowed a huge lawn with a lawnmower! I felt awesome!
- Stained windows.
I know there's way more but this is all I can remember for now. I am currently in Siam Reap where I've already have 3 Never Have I Evers:
1. Been to a fish spa–where the little fish eat your dead skin.
2. Been to an ancient wonder of the world–Angkor Wat–INCREDIBLE!!!
3. Eaten fried crickets–not incredible, the legs got stuck in my teeth!!!! eeeeekkkkkkk!!!!
We head to ministry and we are not 100% sure what we are doing but we are working with Teen Challenge Cambodia working with teenage boys who have gotten out of drug addiction. I'm super pumped! I miss you all tons and can't believe I will be home in less than 2 months!!!!
EEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!
