One aspect of training camp I haven’t mentioned is the awesomeness of the Serve Staff.  They’re people who’ve already done the race and were at training to help us through. They were huge in my week!  I remember the feeling of relief when I finally admitted to Kyla that I had no idea if this was the most amazing or the craziest thing I’ll ever do with my life and she told me that was ok.  It was ok to still be on the fence.   Another one, Amy, helped me face my father issues and encouraged me all week as I sought to reestablish my identity in Christ.

Another time one staff member named Melissa pulled me aside after a meeting and asked if I knew what our name meant.  I’ve always really liked the meaning of my name,  I feel like my grandmother knew just who I’d be when I grew up and that’s why she picked my name. So I answered right away, “Honeybee, the party.”    Melissa smiled, said yes and then added this whole new piece to it.

She challenged me with the thought that not only are they social but they also perform a vital function in our world.  They pollinate.  Because they travel from plant to plant we have many different crops and food.  So if I’m really going to live up to my name I can’t just be social and fun.  I need to pollinate.  I need to help people grow by spreading love and the Good News!  And all of a sudden it just made sense.  All my frustration being stuck in one place, my feelings of boredom and unease stem from not living out something so deeply ingrained in my soul.  I’m meant to go and share.  And so that’s what I’m going to do!  And I finally have a date of when it’s all going to happen!!!

July 13, 2011 I will be flying out of Miami and start this crazy adventure!  And I cannot wait!

So thanks for all your prayers, encouragement and support over these last 9 months!  You're the best!
