I am so fortunate to work at a college* that A) is Christian and B) values diversity. Today in Chapel we had the Christmas story read from different students in their native tongues. We had Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, Kinyarwanda, Arabic and finally the President of the College finished in English.
The Chaplain started by talking about the joy of global worship. That when Easter comes around and the leader says “Christ is risen!” that all over the world people respond. “Christ is risen indeed!” And I almost burst into tears. This time for joy though. Joy to know that while I am in Cambodia thousands of miles away from everything I’ve ever known that I will still be with “family”.
And then we sang the most perfect hymn ever that is probably going to become my theme song:
Take My Life and Let it Be
Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in endless praise.
Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
Take my voice and let me sing,
Always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.
Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.
