I want to give you all some more information about the World Race.

That would be nice, right? Here we go.

I’ve been asked a lot of questions concerning the WR. Valid questions that merit answers. I feel a good way I can answer these questions are by using some information I found on the Adventures in Missions website in addition to other social network research. (No, I don’t find all my answers on the Internet…Prof. Matt Henry taught me well. #edmajor)

Question #1: Will you be going alone? ALL alone?! Backpacking across 11 countries for 11 months all by your self?!?!

Answer: No. I will not be going alone. I appreciate the concern though.

I will be going with a group of people that in the WR we call “squads”. I’ve already connected with a lot of them and let me just say…they’re pretty amazing. It’s so great to be connected to like-minded people. It’s an been an even greater experience getting to know my squad-mates and learning how we were all brought together to do this crazy thing.

As mentioned before, the WR is under a wider organization called Adventures in Missions (AIM). Here is a small excerpt from their website that gives an overview of what AIM is all about.

“Adventures in Missions is an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship. We emphasize prayer and relationships in our work amongst the poor.

Since we were established in 1989, we have taken over 100,000 people into the mission field, some for as short as a week and others for as long as a year or longer. In several places around the world we minister year-round to “the least of these”. We believe that by giving people the opportunity to hold orphans, bring hope to the hopeless, and pray for the sick, lives are transformed.

We seek to disciple as Jesus did; our vision is that God would use us to raise up a generation of radically committed disciples of Jesus Christ.” “About Adventures in Missions.” – Adventures in Missions. Web.

Question #2: So, that’s awesome that you’re going to all these different countries…but what exactly will you be doing?

Answer: This is a general layout of things my squad and I could be doing:

“Every day on the World Race looks a little different. Some days will be packed full with construction, VBS, building relationships with orphans, or praying for the sick at a hospital. Some days could be slower — shopping for groceries at the market, cooking for your team, and spending time praying for the community you walk through. Regardless of the pace or the activity, every day will be focused on being a part of God’s kingdom work.” “About The World Race.” About. Web.

I’ve been following current Racers via Instagram (yes, being a complete creep) and looking for their hashtags with the countries we’ll be serving in. They post things that they do which gives me an idea of what my squad and I will be doing. One Racer posted that their mission that day was to walk through the marketplace in Malaysia and meet people, hoping that they could share the message of Jesus. One Racer posted about how one day she was teaching (hello…teaching!) English in Thaliand. So basically, there will be so many different ways that my team and I will be serving.

I can assure you that we are all willing to do whatever we need to do to serve and love like Jesus did.

(read that one again…’cause I mean it.)

Lastly, I want to share the countries my squad and I will be serving in:

  1. Peru
  2. Ecuador
  3. Colombia
  4. Montenegro
  5. Bulgaria
  6. Albania
  7. Nepal
  8. India
  9. Malaysia
  10. Thailand
  11. Cambodia

Information overload? Probably. But I hope to have answered some the FAQs. If you’re reading this last sentence (and to those that didn’t make it this far) I love you, you matter, and thanks for reading.

Grace and Peace.
