God definitely works in mysterious ways. When I was working as a World Race Mobilizer for Adventures in Missions, I interviewed a young woman named Ashley Beaudin. We had a great conversation…it was a definite divine appointment. She never did go on the Race, but we remained friends. Currently, God has been using her in tremendous ways. I don’t think she even realizes the impact of what she is doing. It is HUGE!!!
She has started a movement called Overcome the Lie. “Overcome the Lie exists to empower a generation of women to overcome the lie because Jesus overcame the grave. Our desire is to promote a culture of encouragement and victory by providing resources and opportunity for women to rise above the lie. Our hope is to raise up a community of women who will walk in wholeness and identity, declare the truth boldly and advance the Kingdom with passion and power.”
I am so honored to be a part of this campaign, because I know how much the power of truth has transformed my life. I would like to share a piece of that story with you……..
I have always been a believer in Jesus Christ, but I did not know how to get out of my bondage of sin. I didn’t know how to be set apart and live my life as a true believer, without following a set of rules….a long list of do’s and don’ts. To be honest, I found it boring, and everyone else seemed to be enjoying life so much more. Not only that, I was so tired and weary of constantly failing at trying to keep the rules and be a “good girl”. I would feel so shameful and so guilty anytime I broke one, even just slightly. This lead me to living my life one way in front of my “christian” community, and acting another way in front of everyone else. I would definitely describe myself as a double-minded person.
In 2009, I signed up for one of the craziest decisions of my life…I decided to sell everything, leave all of my comforts behind, travel the world for a year as a missionary, and with 45 people I had never met.
In August of that year, I went to training camp in the hills of Georgia, to prepare for the trip and to meet all of the others crazies who signed up. One night, during corporate worship, a pretty young woman came up to me and said that God sees me and He calls me His daughter. I have never heard those words before…His daughter. About 5 minutes later, a beautiful woman (who would later be our squad coach) came up to me and told me word for word the exact same thing! I watched these women…they did not converse with one another, neither one of them had any idea what the other woman had said to me. I knew at that moment, it had to be God.
I was completely BROKEN! Could it be that He actually loves me this much? Could it be that He really says these things about me?
John 14:18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Those truths resonated so profoundly into my spirit. It was like my spirit took such a deep, breathe of fresh air, like it could finally breathe. Almost like I had been searching and waiting my whole life, just to hear these truths.
It changed me….it completely transformed my life. In one night, because of simple truths, I was ready to give my entire being to Christ. I was ready to say “yes” to all that He had planned for me and never look back.
Truth is such a mighty weapon! It’s what Jesus used when He was tempted by the devil in the desert.
In Matthew 4:1-11…When the enemy tried to tempt him 3 times, each time, Jesus would respond with TRUTH…”It is written”, and what happened? The devil left him, and angels came and attended Him.
I encourage you to speak out the truths that Jesus says about you. There is so much power in your voice, there is so much authority in what you speak, because YOU ARE HIS.
The enemy is a liar. John 8:44 “When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” He can’t stand when truth is spoken. So speak it out and silence him.
